Michael Moore Reveals The Name On His Next Documentary
'Capitalism: A Love Story' is the title for Michael Moore's next documentary variety reveals, Moore had this to say about the decision on the title:
"It will be the perfect date movie," Moore said in an announcement Wednesday. "It's got it all -- lust, passion, romance and 14,000 jobs being eliminated every day. It's a forbidden love, one that dare not speak its name. Heck, let's just say it: It's capitalism."
The film is described as focusing on "the disastrous impact that corporate dominance and out-of-control profit motives have on the lives of Americans and citizens of the world."
Warner Bros. & DC Wins 'Superman' Case
Variety have news that Warner Bros. and DC Comics have won back the rights to 'Superman' in the suit filed by the heirs of "Superman" co-creator Jerome Siegel. One of the interesting highlights of the hearing is the judge ruled a 'Superman' film has to be made by 2011 or the Siegels will be able to sue for damages, could this ruling finally get the proposed 'Superman Returns' sequel made?
In a decision announced Wednesday, U.S. Judge District Court Judge Stephen G. Larson found that the license fees the studio paid to corporate sibling DC Comics didn't represent "sweetheart" deals as they weren't below fair market value. That means the heirs will be able seek profits only from DC Comics -- which earned $13.6 million from Warner Bros. for the 2006 release of "Superman Returns" -- rather than from Warner Bros. as well.CBR have kindly posted up the whole decision on there site so if you have the head for it check it out here.
The judge, who conducted a 10-day bench trial, also noted that Warner Bros. chairman Alan Horn had testified that he hopes to make another "Superman" movie but added that the property wasn't under development at the studio, that no script had been written and that the earliest another "Superman" pic could be released would be in 2012.
Toberoff also asserted in a written statement that the Siegel heirs and the heirs of co-creator Joe Shuster will own the entire Superman copyright in 2013.
"The Court pointedly ruled that if Warner Bros. does not start production on another Superman film by 2011, the Siegels will be able to sue to recover their damages," Toberoff added.

“‘Ant-Man’ is something I need to return to,” said Wright. “I wrote a draft before ‘Scott Pilgrim’ started and it’s kind [of] on back burner slightly just because I’ve been busy with this. But it’s something that I have got to return to. I have to do another draft after ‘Scott Pilgrim’ is done.”
“When you come away from something it’s good and fun to rework what you’ve already done,” the director confessed. “But I’m very happy with the first draft and we need to get back into business.”

John Woo To Direct 'Flying Tigers'
John Woo has signed on to direct a China-Hollywood joint production about the Flying Tigers, according to gokunming.com.
The movie, which will begin filming this year, is expected to cost US$100 million, which will make it the most expensive Chinese film made to date, the report said.
A signing ceremony for the film, called "Flying Tiger Heroes" was held in Beijing on July 3, with Lion Rock Productions, Fengde Dadi Culture and Media Co Ltd and the Propaganda Bureau of the Standing Committee of the Yunnan provincial government all inking a cooperation agreement for the film.
Flying Tigers was the popular name of the 1st American Volunteer Group (AVG) of the Chinese Air Force in 1941-1942. Arguably, the group was a private military contractor, and the volunteers have also been called mercenaries. They were former United States Army (USAAF), Navy (USN), and Marine Corps (USMC) pilots and ground crew, recruited under Presidential sanction and commanded by Claire Lee Chennault. The group consisted of three fighter squadrons with about 20 aircraft each. It trained in Burma before the American entry into World War II with the intention of defending China against Japanese forces.
Paddy Considine & Jason Statham Join 'Blitz'
Crimespreecinema has the news that Paddy Considine & Jason Statham are set to star in a movie adaptation of Ken Bruen's novel 'Blitz.' Elliott Lester is attached to direct Blitz from a script by Nathan Parker (Moon), Statham is to play Brant, a rather crude, un-pc, borderline sociopath of a cop and Considine will be playing Sergeant Porter Nash, an openly gay cop that works with the homophobic Brant.
The synopsis is, in the fast-moving follow-up to the White Trilogy, the south-east London police squad are suffering collective burnout: with tragic deaths, excessive habits, uncontrollable anger and the wrong kind of friendships, the team never had it so bad. When a serial killer takes his show on the road, things get progressively worse. Nicknamed 'The Blitz,' a vicious murderer is aiming for tabloid glory by killing cops. Harold Dunphy, Ace crime reporter, thinks he's on to the story of the decade, and the police have all the incentive they need to catch their criminal - before they get caught first!
