Updated: 'Spartacus: Vengeance' Trailer

Starz have released a full length trailer for 'Spartacus: Vengeance' which returns January next year, and sees Australian actor Liam McIntyre take over the lead role from Andy Whitfield, who had to sadly depart the show at the end of the first season after being diagnosed with cancer.

On the heels of the bloody escape from the House of Batiatus that concluded "Spartacus: Blood and Sand", the gladiator rebellion continues and begins to strike fear into the heart of the Roman Republic in "Spartacus: Vengeance". Gaius Claudius Glaber and his Roman troops are sent to Capua to crush the growing band of freed slaves that Spartacus leads before it can inflict further damage. Spartacus is presented the choice of satisfying his personal need for vengeance against the man that condemned his wife to slavery and eventual death or making the larger sacrifices necessary to keep his budding army from breaking apart. Containing all of the blood-soaked action, exotic sexuality, and villainy and heroism that has come to distinguish the series, the tale of Spartacus resumes in epic fashion.

Concept Art For Robert Rodriguez's 'Fire & Ice'

Here's your first look at Robert Rodriguez's live-action remake of 'Fire & Ice' based on the work of the late Frank Frazetta. Rodriguez intends to join his work with Frazetta’s style to bring to life the sword-and-sorcery story of survivors in a land destroyed by a mystical ice age, much like he did with Frabk Miller on 'Sin City,' saying:
“I want it to look like you just stepped into one of his paintings, where you get to see his world, and how he saw people, anatomy, and composition and color,” Rodriguez told EW. “It will feel like it’s real, but not real. It’ll be his reality. He saw things differently. He painted from his imagination. He didn’t take a photograph and just paint it.”
Here’s the official synopsis for the movie, which Rodriguez aims to start in early 2012:

From his stronghold in Ice Peak, the evil Nekron sends forth a wave of deadly glaciers, forcing humanity to retreat to Fire Keep, a kingdom ruled by a generous king. When King Jarol’s daughter Teegra is kidnapped, young warrior Larn teams with the mysterious and legendary Dark Wolf, to rescue the princess and the realm from Nekron’s evil sorcery.

It’s just one of those things that you bravely do. No one told me to do it, to make these cuts. I had no time restrictions nor pressure whatsoever. I just felt the movie doesn’t need this, so I did something else instead."

Check it out in HD in the player below and see if you agree with the director that this scene was better left on the cutting room floor.

Updated: The Hobbit: First Look at Balin, Dwalin & Thorin Oakenshield. New Images Of Gandalf & Bilbo

Balin & Dwalin

Thorin Oakenshield

First look at Ken Stott as Balin and Graham McTavish as Dwalin. Updated now with the first look at Thorin Oakenshield played by Richard Armitage

Balin & Dwalin
Dwarf Lords in their own right, Balin and Dwalin are close relatives of Thorin. Beyond this, these brothers are two of his most loyal and trusted friends. An old warrior, Balin has lived through hard times and fought many battles, yet he harbors doubts about the wisdom of the Quest to retake the Lonely Mountain. Dwalin has no such forebodings – his belief in Thorin’s leadership is unshakeable. A powerful and bruising fighter, with a natural tendency to distrust anyone who is not a Dwarf, particularly anyone who might be an Elf, Dwalin is not someone to cross lightly.

Thorin Oakenshield
As a young Dwarf prince, Thorin witnessed the destruction and terror wrought when a great fire-breathing Dragon attacked the Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. After slaughtering many of Thorin’s kin, the great serpent, Smaug, entered The Lonely Mountain and took possession of its vast store of gold and jewels. No-one came to the aid of the surviving Dwarves, and thus, a once proud and noble race was forced into exile. Through long years of hardship, Thorin grew to be a strong and fearless fighter and revered leader. In his heart a fierce desire grew; a desire to reclaim his homeland and destroy the beast that had brought such misery upon his people. So when fate offers him an unusual ally, he seizes the chance for revenge.

'The Thing' Official Trailer

Trailer for the prequel for John Carpenters 'The Thing.' The Matthijs van Heijningen directed thriller stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Joel Edgerton, Jonathan Lloyd Walker and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.

Antarctica: an extraordinary continent of awesome beauty. It is also home to an isolated outpost where a discovery full of scientific possibility becomes a mission of survival when an alien is unearthed by a crew of international scientists. The shape-shifting creature, accidentally unleashed at this marooned colony, has the ability to turn itself into a perfect replica of any living being. It can look just like you or me, but inside, it remains inhuman. In the thriller "The Thing," paranoia spreads like an epidemic among a group of researchers as they're infected, one by one, by a mystery from another planet.

Paleontologist Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has traveled to the desolate region for the expedition of her lifetime. Joining a Norwegian scientific team that has stumbled across an extraterrestrial ship buried in the ice, she discovers an organism that seems to have died in the crash eons ago. But it is about to wake up.

When a simple experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison, Kate must join the crew's pilot, Carter (Joel Edgerton), to keep it from killing them off one at a time. And in this vast, intense land, a parasite that can mimic anything it touches will pit human against human as it tries to survive and flourish.

'The Thing' serves as a prelude to John Carpenter's classic 1982 film of the same name.

It opens October 14.
