'Spartacus: Vengeance' Trailer #2

Second trailer for Starz's 'Spartacus: Vengeance,' starring Liam McIntyre, Manu Bennett, Peter Mensah, Dustin Clare and Lucy Lawless.

On the heels of the bloody escape from the House of Batiatus that concluded "Spartacus: Blood and Sand," the gladiator rebellion continues and begins to strike fear into the heart of the Roman Republic in "Spartacus: Vengeance." Gaius Claudius Glaber and his Roman troops are sent to Capua to crush the growing band of freed slaves that Spartacus leads before it can inflict further damage.

Spartacus is presented the choice of satisfying his personal need for vengeance against the man that condemned his wife to slavery and eventual death, or making the larger sacrifices necessary to keep his budding army from breaking apart. Containing all of the blood-soaked action, exotic sexuality, and villainy and heroism that has come to distinguish the series, the tale of Spartacus resumes in epic fashion.

Updated 'Prometheus' One Sheet & Interview With Ridley Scott

Here's the first teaser poster for Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus,' starring Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Logan Marshall-Green and Patrick Wilson.

'Prometheus' opens June 8 2012 in the US, 1 June 2012 for Ireland and the UK.

Update: Filmophilia scored a pretty cool interview with Ridley Scott highlights from their discussion which include a definitive answer on H.R. Giger involvement in 'Prometheus,' whether or not the original "Alien" makes an appearance and hints about how important the Space Jockey is.

On the lack of a "direct link" between Prometheus and the "Alien" films:

I mean, you could actually say, and there's a quote I did, a pretty good quote: By the end of the third act you start to realize there's a DNA of the very first Alien, but none of the subsequent Aliens. To tell you what that is is a pity, and I'm not going to tell you, because it's actually pretty good, pretty organic to the process and to the original. But we go back, we don't go forward.

On pulling in the Space Jockey:

Yeah, so there you have that. I was always amazed that, I mean, I've only done two science-fictions, but I was always amazed that no one asked who the hell the Space Jockey was. He wasn't even called the Space Jockey. During the film they started to call it the Space Jockey. I don't know who started that one off. I always thought it was amazing that no one ever asked who he was, and why was he there? What was all that about? I sat thinking about this for a while and thought, well, there's a story! And the other four [films] missed it! So, here it is.

On H.R. Giger's involvement:

I brought him in, I showed him what we were doing, showed him the story and he liked it a lot. So he's doing a little bit of work for me. He's been doing some murals, big murals, which we'll see in almost one of the first chambers we encounter when we land where we're gonna go.

On whether or not the original "xenomorph" will be seen in Prometheus:

No. Absolutely not. They squeezed it dry. He (the xenomorph) did very well. (He laughs) He survived, he's now in Disneyland in Orlando, and no way am I going back there. How did he end up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus Christ!

Check This... 'Destino'

'Destino' is an animated short film released in 2003 by Disney, the short is a collaboration between Walt Disney and Salvador Dalí. Its production originally began in 1945 and took 58 years before its eventual completion.

'Destino' was storyboarded by Disney studio artist John Hench and artist Salvador Dalí for eight months in late 1945 and 1946; however production ceased not long after. The Walt Disney Company, then Walt Disney Studios, was plagued by many financial woes in the World War II era. Hench compiled a short animation test of about 17 seconds in the hopes of rekindling Disney's interest in the project, but the production was no longer deemed financially viable and put on indefinite hiatus.

In 1999, Walt Disney's nephew Roy E. Disney, while working on Fantasia 2000, unearthed the dormant project and decided to bring it back to life. Disney Studios France, the company's small Parisian production department, was brought on board to complete the project. The short was produced by Baker Bloodworth and directed by French animator Dominique Monfréy in his first directorial role.

A team of approximately 25 animators deciphered Dalí and Hench's cryptic storyboards (with a little help from the journals of Dalí's wife Gala Dalí and guidance from Hench himself), and finished Destino's production. The end result is mostly traditional animation, including Hench's original footage, but it also contains some computer animation.

The 17 second original footage that is included in the finished product is the segment with the two tortoises.

'The Dark Knight Rises' New Poster & Christopher Nolan Talks

Publicity for 'The Dark Knight Rises' has gone upto 11 with the IMAX prologue near its release, the viral campaign has once again started with Operation Early Bird and above a new teaser poster with the tag line 'The Legend Ends.' sparking the question will Batman die?

July 20th can not get here fast enough.

The LA Times had the opportunity to speak with director Christopher Nolan about the highly-anticipated release, discussing the reasons for choosing Bane as the film's primary villain, saying:
"I didn't know him very well," says Nolan of the comic book iteration of Bane. "David Goyer got me a bunch of stuff on him and we looked into him. I only knew him by name, I wasn't familiar with his back story. He's a very cool character. And getting an actor like Tom to take it on, you know you're going to get something very special. Tom is somebody who really knows how to put character into every gesture, every aspect of his physicality in the way that great actors can... With Bane, the physicality is the thing. With a good villain you need an archetype, you know, you need the extreme of some type of villainy. The Joker is obviously a particular archetype of diabolical, chaotic anarchy and has a devilish sense of humor. Bane, to me, is something we haven't dealt with in the films. We wanted to do something very different in this film. He's a primarily physical villain, he's a classic movie monster in a way — but with a terrific brain. I think he's a fascinating character. I think people are going to get a kick out of what we've done with him."
Nolan also discussed the jump forward in time that fans will experience between the The Dark Knight film and The Dark Knight Rises. As was previously announced, the new film will take place eight years after the end of the 2008 film.
"It will make a lot more sense to people when they see the film," Nolan explains. "But it's not a great mystery — it's the jumping-off point for the film — but it's hard for me to articulate it. I think the mood at the beginning of the film will make a lot of sense. If I had to express it thematically, I think what we're saying is that for Batman and Commissioner Gordon, there's a big sacrifice, a big compromise, at the end of the 'The Dark Knight' and for that to mean something, that sacrifice has to work and Gotham has to get better in a sense. They have to achieve something for the ending of that film — and the feeling at the end of that film — to have validity. Their sacrifice has to have meaning and it takes time to establish that and to show that, and that’s the primary reason we did that. It's a time period that is not so far ahead that we would have to do crazy makeup or anything — which I think would be distracting — but it gave them something to get their teeth into, particularly Christian in terms of [portraying] this guy who has been frozen in this moment in time with nowhere to go. He really has done an incredible job figuring out how to characterize that and express that."
'The Dark Knight Rises' also stars Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata and Nestor Carbonell.

Below is "Operation Early Bird" viral for 'The Dark Knight Rises' which revealed locations to catch the IMAX prologue for the film, pity there is no IMAX in Ireland :(

Patty Jenkins Leaves 'Thor 2'

Patty Jenkins has left as director of Marvel's 'Thor 2,' citing "creative differences" as the reason for Jenkins' departure.

With a release date planned for November 15th, 2013, a new director is expected to be announced soon. She won the directors chair from the likes of Drew Goddard, James McTeigue and Breck Eisner so maybe one of these will step in to replace her.

Patty Jenkis had this to say about her exit:

"I have had a great time working at Marvel," she told THR. "We parted on very good terms, and I look forward to working with them again."

Jenkins also said she hoped to return to the superhero genre. “I have a long love of superhero films and I’d been saying over and over to my agents at CAA that I’d like to do one,” she said. “That’s the real revolution. The Marvel guys are so brave in terms of who they choose overall, and I don’t think they had any pause about me being a woman.”

Nine Clips From 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows'

Warner Bros. Pictures has released nine clips from Guy Ritchie's 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.' The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Noomi Rapace, Jared Harris, Eddie Marsan, Stephen Fry and Rachel McAdams

Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) has always been the smartest man in the room... until now. There is a new criminal mastermind at large—Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris)—and not only is he Holmes' intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may actually give him an advantage over the renowned detective.

When the Crown Prince of Austria is found dead, the evidence, as construed by Inspector Lestrade (Eddie Marsan), points to suicide. But Sherlock Holmes deduces that the prince has been the victim of murder—a murder that is only one piece of a larger and much more portentous puzzle, designed by Professor Moriarty. The cunning Moriarty is always one step ahead of Holmes as he spins a web of death and destruction—all part of a greater plan that, if he succeeds, will change the course of history.

It opens December 16, 2011.

Music Video for Lou Reed & Metallica's 'The View' Directed by Darren Aronofsky

Only Darren Aronofsky could orchestrate a music video for the Lou Reed and Metallica single 'The View' taken from the album 'Lulu.'

"The first time I heard 'The View' I was stunned," Aronofsky said. "I had never heard anything like it. Half was all Lou. The other half all Metallica. It was a marriage that on the surface made no sense, but the fusion changed the way I thought about both artists and morphed into something completely fresh and new. I couldn't stop listening to it. Lou's crushing lyrics, and the band's incredible licks."

"I am very excited about working with Darren Aronofsky on our powerful video 'The View,'" Lou Reed said in no uncertain terms. "I feel Darren understood the power and range of the emotions fueled by the fire of Metallica. His strength and spirit are on display in every frame and I think he has caught the anger, rage and anguish at the bottom of the soul of real rock."
