First Stills From The Hobbit Parts 2 & 3

With only a week away before the first of The Hobbit trilogy begins with 'An Unexpected Journey,' EW has already teased 'The Desolation of Smaug' and 'There and Back Again' by releasing two still from the two sequels.

First released above is from the final film 'There and Back Again' which we see Orlando Bloom reprising his role as Legolas from the 'Lord of the Rings' along with the Laketown warrior Bard the Bowman, played by Luke Evans.  Peter Jackson gave a little interview to explain why Legolas makes an appearance in the film as he does not feature in the novel:
“He’s [elven king] Thranduil’s son, and Thranduil is one of the characters in The Hobbit," said Peter Jackson.

"And because elves are immortal it makes sense Legolas would be part of the sequence in the Woodland Realm." And what of Bard? "Bard is an interesting character, but [in the book] he’s kind of a random character who comes in after the fact," said writer/producer Philippa Boyens.

"We take more time introducing him. We know from what follows that he was a father, so we [explore] that. I don’t think we take liberties, because it’s all there in the storytelling."
The second still below, is from the second part of the trilogy 'The Desolation of Smaug' showing Martin Freeman’s Bilbo Baggins splayed out on a massive pile of treasure staring at the dragon Smaug.  Interestingly the first two parts of the trilogy will cover the original text the film its based on with the third part with 120 pages of appendices Tolkien wrote to 'The Lord Of The Rings' that elaborate on the story and actually continues well past the face-off with Smaug at the Lonely Mountain, culminating eventually in the epic battle Battle of Five Armies, involving Laketown men, orcs, dwarves, goblins, elves, wargs, and giant eagles.
“The dragon is a huge, wonderful, amazing part of the story, but it doesn’t end there,” says screenwriter and producer Philippa Boyens. “Everyone can suspect there’s a rather large battle in film three.”
'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' will be released on December 13, 2013, and the final entry, 'The Hobbit: There and Back Again,' will be released on July 18, 2014.

Peter Jackson Interview

'Love Story' Trailer

Trailer for 'Love Story' the romantic comedy from New Zealand director Florian Habicht’s about the construction of a fictional love story merges snippets of narrative with actual interviews with everyday New Yorkers to create an original film in which the boundaries of art and life overlap.

Shot on the streets of New York, Love Story begins when Habicht finds a subject for his filmic experiment: the beautiful Masha Yakovenko, spotted at a subway station, carrying a slice of cake. Seeking advice from New Yorkers – strangers – on how to create his on-screen love story with Masha, he takes the notion of interactive storytelling to its logical end, crowdsourcing his plot on the streets. Romance blossoms artificially, and organically, between the director, actor, New York and New Yorkers.

Be also sure to visit directornotes for their interview with Florian Habicht about making the film and a very interesting outtake.

'Love Story' was featured as part of the BFI London Film Festival in October 2012 and is getting a Australian theatrical release in December, no news yet of a further release for Europe or America but be sure to check the films Facebook page for details.

Trailer for Roman Coppola's 'A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III,' which stars Charlie Sheen, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Aubrey Plaza, Patricia Arquette, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Katheryn Winnick.

Set in a stylized Los Angeles, A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III, is a playful comedy of lost love, friendship, revenge fantasies, and Brandy Alexanders. Charles (Charlie Sheen) is a successful graphic designer whose fame, money and charm have provided him with a seemingly perfect life.

When his true love, a perplexing beauty named Ivana, suddenly breaks off their relationship, Charles' life falls apart, and he swirls into a downward spiral of doubt, confusion and reflection. With the support of his loyal intimates -- Kirby (Jason Schwartzman), Saul (Bill Murray), and his sister, Izzy (Patricia Arquette) -- he begins the hard road of self-evaluation to come to terms with a life without Ivana.
