UPDATED: Matt Reeves Will Direct ‘The Batman’

UPDATE 2: Matt Reeves has been confirmed he will direct 'That Batman' after all with WB president saying:
"We are thrilled to have Matt Reeves taking the helm of Batman, the crown jewel of our DC slate,” Toby Emmerich, president of Warner Bros. Pictures Group, said in a statement. “Matt’s deep roots in genre films and his evolution into an emotional world-building director make him the perfect filmmaker to guide the Dark Knight through this next journey.”
Reeves added:
“I have loved the Batman story since I was a child. He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply. I am incredibly honored and excited to be working with Warner Bros. to bring an epic and emotional new take on the Caped Crusader to the big screen.”

UPDATE: Matt Reeves has departed the film after negotiations broke down, the hunt is on for a new director!

Variety is reporting that Matt Reeves will replace Ben Affleck as director on the solo Batman movie 'The Batman'

Sources say that the director has already committed to helming the superhero pic, although a deal isn’t done yet.  Reeves is currently in post production on 'War for the Planet of the Apes.'
