Samantha Morton To Direct For Channel 4

Samantha Morton is to make her television directorial debut on a new feature-length drama for Channel 4.

Variety reports that Morton has co-written and will direct 'The Unloved', which tells the story of a girl growing up in a care home.

Commenting, Morton said: "I am thrilled to be making my first film with Channel 4, who have constantly pushed boundaries and enabled people like me to have a voice. I hope this film can help make a difference to the young people that see it."

Morton, who spent time in care while growing up, will shoot 'The Unloved' in her hometown of Nottingham in the autumn.

The drama will be screened on Channel 4 next year.
