Brad Pitt Throws In The Towel On 'The Fighter'

Sad news Brad Pitt has quit Darren Aronofsky's The Fighter, throwing the project's future into doubt.

The film was expected to go into production this year and according to The Playlist, Pitt will no longer star opposite Mark Wahlberg in the boxing drama. It is the second time Pitt has left an Aronofksy movie after quitting The Fountain in 2002 to do Troy.

Mark Wahlberg, who will play 'Irish' Mickey Ward, hinted that Pitt's departure has held up the film.

"They finally got the green light," he told Coming Soon. "Now we have to figure out the cast thing."

Wahlberg added that he had been training for two years for The Fighter, saying: "It's too depressing to talk about. I get up everyday at 5am to train for a movie that might not even happen."

Aronofsky is now set to plough straight into doing Robocop and re-evaluate 'The Fighter' on completion of Delta City's finest.
