Spielberg To Remake Oldboy

Will Smith and Steven Spielberg are in talks to remake and possibly butcher Park Chan-wook's Oldboy.

The original follows a man who is incarcerated for 15 years without explanation. Upon his release, he goes on a revenge-fueled mission to seek out his captor. Oldboy was the second film in Chan-wook's brilliant Vengeance trilogy, which also included Sympathy For Mr Vengeance and Sympathy For Lady Vengeance.

Spielberg, who has reportedly been looking for a project to make with Smith, is in the process of securing the remake rights for DreamWorks and hiring a writer for the project.

Previously director Justin Lin (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift) and Nicolas Cage had previously been linked with an Oldboy remake.
