OC and Gossip Girl creator Josh Schwartz has been hired to write X-Men: First Class.X-Men: First Class will either focus on younger members of the X-Men team - Iceman, Rogue, Angel, Colossus, Jubilee and Shadowcat, or the early years of characters such as Cyclops and Beast.
Schwartz reportedly declined an offer from 20th Century Fox to direct the film.
Franchise producer Lauren Shuler Donner will produce the new movie alongside X-Men: The Last Stand writer Simon Kinberg.
The X-Men film series has earned $1.2 billion at the worldwide box office.
