John August has been hired as the scribe to adapt Preacher for director Sam Mendes.August is a frequent collaborator of Tim Burton's, having scripted Big Fish, Corpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and is currently writing Dark Shadows. August also wrote Go and Titan AE and recently wrote and directed The Nines. He also scripted the two Charlie's Angels films, but lets not dwell on that.
Preacher was a comic book series created by Irish writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon for Vertigo Comics.
