Tobey Maguire will produce and possibly star in an adaptation of crime novel Good People.Maguire who is already developing Robotech, Tokyo Suckerpunch and Crusaders as possible acting vehicles, secured the rights to Marcus Sakey's book through his production firm Maguire Entertainment and enlisted Kelly Masterson (Before The Devil Knows You're Dead) to write the screenplay.
The story involves a couple who get into financial difficulties after undergoing unsuccessful fertility treatments. They think that their problems are solved when they discover money in their dead tenant's apartment.
Maguire has first option on the Good People leading role.
