Sam The Man Talks Spider-Man 4 And Evil Dead 4, Remake

While at SXSW MTV and IGN both got to chat with Sam Raimi about everyone favorite neighbourhood Spider-Man and everyone favorite chainsaw wielding hero Ash. At MTV he gave some info on Spider-Man 4 going as far to suggest that the story will be told in one film with no sequels in mind (as of yet), here what he tols MTV:
The writers, producers and I are working out what the story will be, but we haven’t been talking in terms of Part 4 and 5.” Raimi told MTV News. “I’ve read that [about 'Spider-Man 5’] also, but right now we’re just working on the story for ‘Spider-Man 4,’ just that one film.

We’re definitely talking about working from all the material in the comic books and nothing [invented] outside of that, “Raimi continued. “All the characters or villains or villains, whatever we decide to do will be from Stan Lee’s creations or those that came after him.

I can’t imagine making a ‘Spider-Man’ movie without Kirsten,” he said, seemingly contemplating the idea in his head with a long pause. “Of course it can be done because Spider Man has existed without the character of Mary-Jane but she’s one of my favorite parts and it would be a shame not to have her in the picture. I’m hoping she’ll be in it and I’m planning on having a story with her in it.
Now we turn to Sam Raimi's other great legacy the Evil Dead were IGN got to ask him about the status of the film that's driving us made weather it will be getting made or not, and the remake anyway here's what he said:
I have talked with my partners about having a young director come in and remake Evil Dead," he revealed. "That film was made in 16mm on a shoestring budget and blown up to 35mm. The visual effects are crumby, it was done in mono, not even stereo, let alone 5.1. What you could do with it now would be so much better.

I think if you had a new director using the full power of 35mm and 5.1 sound, you could really make a pretty socko presentation. It was always meant for the big screen, but never really seen on the big screen

When IGN caught up with star Bruce Campbell earlier in the year, he was hesitant about signing up for a fourth, claiming that the fan backlash to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull should give everyone involved pause for thought.

I liked Indy 4," Raimi said when we put this to him. "He's probably just trying to get out of getting in shape!

Like any movie it's hard to say if you want to do it or if you don't want to do it until there is a script to talk about, he continued. So one day I hope to have the time to write a script, and if that happens I'm hoping that Bruce will change his mind.
