'Mad Max 4' To Go Into Production Later This Year

Director George Miller has reportedly announced that Mad Max 4 is to go into production and will not be a 3D anime as what was previously reported.

The fourth instalment in the film franchise could begin shooting in Australia as early as this year.

Industry sources said that location scouting has taken place, while specialised technicians have been approached for the project.

No casting has been announced. However Mel Gibson is not expected to return, Miller said in a interview in 2007 when talk of a sequel first surfaced:
"It won't be Mel. He was 21 when he made the first one, now he's a lot older and his passion is for filmmaking and directing," Miller said soon after winning an Oscar for Happy Feet. "I don't think he is into acting and I don't think he would be interested in being involved at all."
It is not know if Miller will direct the film as he is currently in production with Happy Feet 2 in Sydney, Australia.
