Kevin Smith's Horror 'Red State' To Start Shooting August

Here is a nice little scoop from our side of the pond (Ireland) for an upcoming major US film. Our pal Vic Barry from Cork's RedFM recently did an interview with Kevin Smith, and the director revealed that his long planned horror 'Red State' has finally got financial backing and will start shooting mid-August.

'Red State' is a film in which a group of misfits encounter fundamentalism gone to the extreme in Middle America. The film was inspired by US pastor Fred Phelps, or as Smith claimed, "very much about that subject matter, that point of view and that position taken to the absolute extreme. It's certainly not Phelps himself but it's very much inspired by a Phelps (like) figure."

Make sure you check back Sunday to Vic's movie blog to hear part one of his epic interview with Kevin Smith.
