Zack Snyder Will Direct Christopher Nolan's 'Superman'

Deadline has the scoop that Zack Snyder has been chosen to direct the new installment of Superman for Warner Bros.

With script by David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan, and Christopher Nolan overseeing the project in a "godfather" the film is being aimed for a late 2012 release date, Snyder has this to say on taking up the job:
"I've been a big fan of the character for a long time, he's definitely the king of all superheroes, he's the one.

"It's early yet, but I can tell you that what David (Goyer, screenwriter) and Chris have done with the story so far definitely has given me a great insight into a way to make him feel modern. I've always felt he was kind of awesome."
Also reported are rumors that General Zod will be Superman's foe in the new film.

UPDATE: The plot details have been leaked and its revealed the films story is based on the 'Superman: Birthright' comic by Mark Waid. The story will follow the journalist Clark Kent traveling the world “trying to decide if he should, in fact, even become Superman.
