Updated: 'Hobo With a Shotgun' Trailer #3

Magnet has released the official trailer for Jason Eisener's 'Hobo with a Shotgun.'

A train pulls into its final station and a Hobo hops from a freight car. He has dreams of a fresh life in a new city, but finds himself trapped in an urban hell instead. A city where criminals rule the streets, landlords evict single mothers in the middle of the night, and where the city's crime boss, The Drake, reigns supreme with his sadistic, homeless-killing sons, Slick & Ivan.

Through the chaos, the Hobo comes across a shop window displaying a second hand lawn mower and a shotgun, and decides it's time to cut the grass, make the city beautiful and start a new way of life. But after witnessing the brutality that encompasses this city, he realizes the only way to make a difference in this place is with a gun in his hand and two shells in its chamber.

'Hobo With a Shotgun' is set to be released On Demand on April 1st, and will get a theatrical release May 6th in the US. 22 July release date for us in Ireland and the UK.

Updated: Warner Bros. Planning Justice League Movie & Batman Reboot

The president of the Warner Bros. motion picture group Jeff Robinov sat down for a interview with the LA Times, where he discussed DC Comics movies for 2013 and beyond, planning 'Justice League' and a 'Batman' reboot.

On the new Justice League film he told the site a new script is in the works. Also being written for Warner are scripts featuring the Flash and Wonder Woman, who could be spun off into their own movies after Justice League. Though Wonder Woman is also in the works as a television pilot for NBC produced by Warner, Robinov dismissed that as a sticking point:
“Wonder Woman could be a film as well, the same way that ‘Superman Returns’ came out while ‘Smallville’ was on,” he said, referring to the 2006 film that put Brandon Routh in the cape and the television show starring Tom Welling that is now in its 10th and final season.
Adding futher proof that The Dark Knigt Rises will be Christopher Nolan's final Batman film, Robinov said:
"We have the third Batman, but then we’ll have to reinvent Batman…Chris Nolan and [producing partner and wife] Emma Thomas will be producing it, so it will be a conversation with them about what the next phase is."
Update: Superman director Zack Snyder explained the Justice League film will not bear a link to Superman or to the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises.
‘It doesn’t [connect]," Snyder told the site on the red carpet for the London premiere of Sucker Punch, "Like what Chris Nolan is doing and what I’m doing with 'Superman', what they’ll do with 'Justice League' will be it’s own thing with its own Batman and own Superman. We’ll be over here with our movie and they’ll kinda get to do it twice, which is kind of cool."

Update:BBC America Series 6

Update #2: Behind-the-Scenes:

Neil Gaiman at Wondercon

Update #3: Interview with Steven Moffat
How has this series evolved from last year?
Steven Moffat: Well we've moved through the funfair a bit - we've done the rollercoaster, now we're on the ghost train. Last year, in a way, was all about saying, don't worry, it's still him, it's still the same show, nothing's really been lost. Losing a leading man like David Tennant is seismic - unless you gain a leading man like Matt Smith. It's been the biggest joy to see him stride in and just claim that TARDIS for his own. But now he's really here, and the part is his, and the bow tie is cool, he's ready to lead us places we didn't know existed. Last year we reassured you - this year, to hell with that, we're going to worry the hell out of you. How well do we really know that man, or what he's capable of? We're putting the Who? back in the Doctor.
Is there a major story arc to look out for?
Oh, there's a big story being told this year, and major mysteries from the very off. As ever, in this show, the stories all stand alone, and every episode is a perfect jumping-on point for a new viewer. But at the same time the over-arching plot will be a bigger player this year. More than hints and whispers - we're barely ten minutes into episode one before our heroes face a dilemma that they'll be staring at months from now. And there will be no easy answers.
Will there be new monsters?
They're ... scary. Very scary. And, ohh, I don't want to say more - there's the Silence in 1 & 2, the Siren, in episode 3, the Gangers in 5 & 6, all these are more than just freaky costumes and masks; there are SCARY ideas here. And just wait till you meet Idris in episode 4.
Is this series scarier than the last one?
See above. Yes, I think so. But it's not JUST scary - it's funny and moving and revelling in its own insanity too.
How have the characters evolved?
The big difference, I suppose, is how long the Doctor is hanging around in the lives of his Companions. His normal MO is get them while they're young, and leave them while they're young too. He's careful to put them back where he found them, before he screws up their lives. But here he is, married couple on board - and much as he loves them both, he does wonder if it isn't time he got out of the way. Before something really BAD happens.
What can you tell us about the cliff-hanger at the end of episode 7?
Normally our cliff-hangers are lives being threatened. With this one, three live are changed FOREVER.

First Look at Disney Pixar's 'Brave'

Disney Pixar have shown concept art for 'Brave,' directed by Mark Andrews who replaced Brenda Chapman who is still credited as a co-director.

Reese Witherspoon will no longer voice the movie's heroine, a tomboyish princess named Merida, due to scheduling issues. Instead, the character will now be played by Kelly Macdonald who joins the cast of Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson and Robbie Coltrane.

Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish.

Also figuring into Merida’s quest — and serving as comic relief — are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).

It opens in 3D and 2D theaters on June 22, 2012.

On 'X-Men 4:' "X4" is in 'active development at Fox.' "We took the treatment to Fox and they love it... And X4 leads into X5."

On 'Deadpool:' On Deadpool, she says the film will be "a total reboot. We're either going to pretend that didn't happen, or mock it, which he could do. We're looking for a director, yes. He's very involved, Ryan. He's working with the writers on the screenplay and it is as much as it is ours."

She confirmed that this would be the Deadpool of the comics. "I'm tellin' ya, it's true to the comic. You'll see all of them. You'll see Wade Wilson, the good-looking Ryan Reynolds! You'll see Deadpool in his costume and you'll see the cancer-scarred face."

Amy Adams Cast As Lois Lane In 'Superman: The Man Of Steel'

Three-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams will portray Lois Lane in Zack Snyder’s reboot of 'Superman'.

“There was a big, giant search for Lois, for us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.” said the director.

It is not known yet how big a part the character of Lois Lane will feature in the film, but Snyder has said her role is "a linchpin" of the film and also said:

“It goes back to what I’ve said about Superman and making him really understandable for today. What’s important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today’s audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance].”

Adams now joins the ever growing list of confirmed cast members Henry Cavill, Diane Lane and Kevin Costner.

Updated: 'Captain America: The First Avenger' Feature Trailer

Directed by Joe Johnston and starring Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, Samuel L. Jackson, Dominic Cooper, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci, Neal McDonough and Derek Luke.

'Captain America: The First Avenger' will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull (Hugo Weaving.)

It has a July 22 release date in the US, 29 July for Ireland and the UK.

Update: 'Captain America' screenwriters Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely talked to MTV about the trailer:
MTV NEWS: So, tell me your first thought on seeing the new trailer, guys...

CHRISTOPHER MARKUS: You forget when you're constantly dealing with parts of these things that it's going to become this whole thing you're emotionally invested in. [Seeing the trailer] was the first time when I was like, "Oh, this is a real movie! It's not just the scene I have to write today!" It sort of sweeps you up and along with it...

MTV: I'm sure you've seen this footage a lot already, but were there any surprises for you when you first saw it?

STEPHEN McFEELY: I'm very surprised that "Now, Mr. Stark" makes people tingle. It's kind of nice. Without giving too much away, we've lived with that for so long, and people say it's kind of bad-ass, but I forget that it's so bad-ass that Tony Stark's father is part of the back story in "Captain America."

MARKUS: For me, it's the shield flying. That's an effect they add later, so when you're on set it's like, "... And then the shield goes flying, and it looks awesome..." So it's this huge part of the movie that you don't know what it looks like until now. When you finally see it flying around, it feels like, "Oh, sh--, this is awesome!"

MTV: One of the things everyone is talking about now — and has been since we saw that first footage during the Super Bowl — is the skinny Steve Rogers effect...

McFEELY: Yeah, you said on Twitter that you thought he was creepy...

MTV: You read that? Uh-oh. I'm both flattered and worried now... This interview has taken a turn...

McFEELY: [Laughs] Hey, I have to know who's calling when we do these things!

MARKUS: [Laughs] That was a big question going into it, though. Steve was going to have to be so sickly that he couldn't get into World War II. For a long time, we were just like, "I'm sure we'll figure out a way to do that," and went on with our storytelling. Eventually, the effects guys came in and showed us what they did, and we were like, "Holy..."

McFEELY: The thing is, for us, he's just Steve. He's not "Skinny Steve." That's the beauty of Captain America: he's the same guy he was before the super-soldier serum. Marvel was great about that, too. They don't mind spending time with "skinny" Steve and getting to know him, so we love him and root for him even before he goes into the pod. In fact, we looked to "Iron Man" sometimes, because it has a really long first act.

MTV: So "Captain America" is structured similarly? With a long first act?

McFEELY: It's not quite as long as "Iron Man," but we felt the freedom to spend time with regular Steve Rogers before all this other stuff happens to him.

MTV: But when you did finally see Chris Evans as the bulked-up Steve Rogers in full Captain America costume, what was your reaction? For many people, this trailer and the Super Bowl teaser were their first looks at Cap in action...

MARKUS: Like I said earlier, you forget about the bigger picture sometimes — you really do! The character is never named "Captain America" in the script. He's always "Steve." You think of him as Steve, and then he comes out in costume and it's like, "Oooooh, yeah!"

MTV: And Cap wasn't the only superhero we got to see in the trailer. As we mentioned in our trailer analysis, we also get to see characters like Union Jack, who appears with the Howling Commandos.

McFEELY: Right, and since you know that's Union Jack, and you see that, can you also see that it's not just that we named him Montgomery Falsworth? As you watch the trailer and see more of the movie, ask yourself if there's something about the design of him or how he behaves or anything that makes him that character... Let me put it this way: Bucky's uniform is blue — there's a reason for that!

MARKUS: Yeah, there's a reason for everything. ["Captain America"] is endlessly packable with stuff with like that...

MTV: So you're saying the trailer merits even more analysis, eh?

McFEELY: Your six minutes could've been 60 minutes!

'The Hobbit' Begins

New Line/Warner Bros. announced today that production has begun in New Zealand on The Hobbit, Peter Jackson's two-film epic adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's timeless classic.

Along with an official statement they have also released two pictures of the Peter in the Shire, official statement is below:
Production has commenced in Wellington, New Zealand, on "The Hobbit," filmmaker Peter Jackson's two film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's widely read masterpiece.

"The Hobbit" is set in Middle-earth 60 years before Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings," which Jackson and his filmmaking team brought to the big screen in the blockbuster trilogy that culminated with the Oscar-winning "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King."

The two films, with screenplays by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson, will be shot consecutively in digital 3D using the latest camera and stereo technology. Filming will take place at Stone Street Studios, Wellington, and on location around New Zealand.

"The Hobbit" follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakensheild. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.

Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever... Gollum.

Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum's "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities... A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

Martin Freeman takes the title role as Bilbo Baggins and Ian McKellen returns in the role of Gandalf the Grey. The Dwarves are played by Richard Armitage (Thorin Oakenshield), Ken Stott (Balin), Graham McTavish (Dwalin), William Kircher (Bifur) James Nesbitt (Bofur), Stephen Hunter (Bombur), Rob Kazinsky (Fili), Aidan Turner (Kili), Peter Hambleton (Gloin), John Callen (Oin), Jed Brophy (Nori), Mark Hadlow (Dori) and Adam Brown (Ori). Reprising their roles from "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy are Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, Andy Serkis as Gollum and Elijah Wood as Frodo. Jeffrey Thomas and Mike Mizrahi also join the cast as Dwarf Kings Thror and Thrain, respectively. Further casting announcements are expected.

"The Hobbit" is produced by Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, alongside Carolynne Cunningham. Executive producers are Ken Kamins and Zane Weiner, with Philippa Boyens as co-producer. The Oscar-winning, critically acclaimed "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, also from the production team of Jackson and Walsh, grossed nearly $3 billion worldwide at the box office. In 2003, "The Return of the King" swept the Academy Awards, winning all of the 11 categories in which it was nominated, including Best Picture – the first ever Best Picture win for a fantasy film. The trilogy's production was also unprecedented at the time.

Among the creative behind-the-scenes team returning to Jackson's crew are director of photography Andrew Lesnie, production designer Dan Hennah, conceptual designers Alan Lee and John Howe, composer Howard Shore and make-up and hair designer Peter King. Costumes are designed by Ann Maskrey and Richard Taylor.

Taylor is also overseeing the design and production of weaponry, armour and prosthetics which are once again being made by the award winning Weta Workshop. Weta Digital take on the visual effects for both films, led by the film's visual effects supervisor, Joe Letteri. Post production will take place at Park Road Post Production in Wellington.

"The Hobbit" films are co-produced by New Line Cinema and MGM, with New Line managing production. Warner Bros Pictures is handling worldwide theatrical distribution, with select international territories as well as all international television licensing being handled by MGM. The two films are planned for release in late 2012 and 2013, respectively.

Joe Padilha Talks 'RoboCop' Reboot

Joe Padilha has chatted a little about taking on the MGM reboot of 'Robocop:'
Q: How are the RoboCop negotiations?
Joe Padilha: It is about doing a new movie, and we're working on it at the moment, and the negotiations are closed already.
Q: It is already closed?
Padilha: It has been a while!
Q: Really? We received that news only on March 1st, but it seems like you've been talking about it for some time, is that correct?
Padilha: Yes, we're already working on the screenplay and everything...
Q: This is something that can work out really well or... I mean, because there's a lot of expectations around this, how are your expectations?
Padilha: I have no concerns about it. I only work on movies when it feels right, when I add something of my own way of portraying things. I make movies for myself and I don't feel nervous, I have no problem with expectations, and if the movie is going to work or not. I just look forward to keep its integrity and directing it the best way I can, all the rest doesn't concern me.
Q: MGM was looking for a globally appealing director. Why do you think they chose you?
Padilha: I don't know. I think they saw my movies and felt there was something there that could bring to the present day this controversial, yet different, violent movie which is RoboCop without misrepresenting it.
Q: So when can we expect RoboCop to come out?
Padilha: It's a project I'm developing from the very beginning together with Josh Zetumer, which is the screenwriter, and there's no deadline really. When the screenplay turns out good enough, then we will start shooting.
'Robocop' talk begins at the 3:20 mark

Darren Aronofsky Leaves 'The Wolverine'

In a shock move Darren Aronofsky has decided to leave 'The Wolverine.' THR reports the project would keep him out of America for too long.

Fox and Hugh Jackman - who is set to return in the title role - said they remain fully committed to making Wolverine and will move aggressively to find a new director.

Fox hadn’t yet greenlit the sequel. A significant portion of the movie will be shot overseas (there had been plans to shoot in Japan).
"As I talked more about the film with my collaborators at Fox, it became clear that the production of The Wolverine would keep me out of the country for almost a year,” Aronofsky said in a joint statement with Fox.

“I was not comfortable being away from my family for that length of time. I am sad that I won't be able to see the project through, as it is a terrific script and I was very much looking forward to working with my friend, Hugh Jackman, again,” he continued.

Stated Fox: “While we are of course disappointed that Darren can’t do The Wolverine, we also understand and respect his reasons. Having done both The Wrestler and Black Swan with Darren, we know he is an extraordinary talent and we look forward to working with him on other projects in the future. Hugh Jackman and Fox both remain fully committed to making The Wolverine. We will regroup and move forward aggressively.”
