Peter Weyland (played by Guy Pearce) at TED2023: I will change the world. A TEDTalk from the future as envisioned by 'Prometheus' director Ridley Scott.
Peter Weyland has been a magnet for controversy since he announced his intent to build the first convincingly humanoid robotic system by the end of the decade.
Whether challenging the ethical boundaries of medicine with nanotechnology or going toe to toe with the Vatican itself on the issue of gene-therapy sterilization, Sir Peter prides himself on his motto, “If we can, we must.” After a three year media blackout, Weyland has finally emerged to reveal where he’s heading next. Wherever that may be, we will most certainly want to follow.

'Pusher' Remake Trailer & Poster
Here is the trailer and poster for the remake of Nicols Winding Refn's 1996 film 'Pusher', that launched Winding Refn's career. This time the remake is directed by Luis Prieto and stars Richard Coyle, Bronson Webb, Paul Kaye and Agyness Deyn.
As edgy and explosive as Nicolas Winding Refn’s 1996 cult classic, this English language remake sees a small time London drug dealer descend into debt following a spot of bad luck and a series of bad choices. The more desperate his behavior gets, the more isolated he becomes until there is nothing left standing between him and the nine millimeter bullet his debtors intend to put through his skull…
It is set for a May release date for Ireland and the UK.

Paul Greengrass Next Is 'Captain Phillips' With Tom Hanks
After a few false starts Paul Greengrass is finally back on track and ready to get the cameras rolling on 'Captain Phillips' the dramatisation of the 2008 Maersk Alabama hijacking with Tom Hanks set to star as the ship's American skipper, Capt. Richard Phillips.
Phillips was the skipper of the cargo ship Maersk Alabama who gave himself up as a hostage to Somali pirates to keep his crew from having to leave the ship with them. After three days of being held hostage alone with the armed pirates in a small lifeboat, Phillips was saved by Navy SEALs who staged a dramatic rescue that left the captain unharmed, three captors dead and another in custody. The film is based on Phillips’ memoir A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea, which was published last year by Hyperion.
Sony Pictures’ The Social Network team of Scott Rudin, Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and Kevin Spacey are producing. Hanks signed on in March after sparking to a script written by Billy Ray.

Bruce Campbell & Jane Levy Talk The 'Evil Dead' Remake
The Insider got to chat with star of the remake Jane Levy and Bruce Campbell on the 'Evil Dead' Remake that filming will be commencing soon. Levy had this to say about the remake:
"I'm so excited," , she said. "I'm a big fan of the original. To me it's the scariest movie, ever. But this one is really different. They've changed it a lot, but it's still a pretty gory movie. My mom probably can't see it. As for the tone, I think the humor in the first one came from the special effects of the time. I don't know that they meant it to be funny...this one is not funny. It's definitely dark."And the legend that is Bruce Campbell also had this to say on the new film making sure to note that no one will be filling Ash's shoes in the remake:
"You can expect to have a damn scary horror movie. There's no Ash character -- The Evil Book is going to torment a new set of kids, so it's a remake, or a re-imagining or ... a re-whatever word you want to use. It's going to be re-scary."Fede Alvarez's will helm the remake and it stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez and Lou Taylor Pucci with more casting announcements coming.
And while this version will focus on a whole new crop of characters, there will be references to the original littered throughout -- for example, the terrifying trees that did a number on Cheryl in 1981 come back for more. "They're not terribly well-behaved this time either,"

David Kelly Dies Aged 82
Very sad news, the great Irish actor David Kelly has died in hospital after a short illness. He was 82. He was one of the most recognisable voices and faces of Irish stage and screen, playing everything from Beckett to Shakespeare.
He was best known in Ireland for his performance as 'Rashers' Tierney in Strumpet City. His memorable appearance in Fawlty Towers, as the builder O'Reilly, brought him to a British and wider audience.
He was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild award for his role in Waking Ned and also received an IFTA lifetime achievement award and a Helen Hayes award for Moons for the Misbegotten. In 2005, he appeared as Charlie's grandad in Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory where he formed a close friendship with Johnny Depp who declared Kelly as his hero.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie, his son David and daughter Miriam.

Harry Hill To Make A Movie For Film4?
Harry Hill is currently in talks with British broadcaster Channel 4 regarding a £2million switch from ITV back to Channel 4, to create and star in a sketch show. The deal would also include Hill making a feature-length film for Film4 that would get a theatrical release upon completion.
A source close to the comedian said: “Harry has lots of ideas and fancies doing something different for a while, especially his own film. That doesn’t really fit in with ITV’s plans for him so he is interested in doing a deal with Channel 4.”
“They have offered him big budgets and a lot of creative freedom to make what he wants, and that’s what attracts him to the offer more than the pay cheque.”
“He has been earning millions with ITV for years so it is not all about the money. For Harry it’s all about doing projects he loves so it seems almost certain he’ll head to Channel 4. And all his fans would love to see a Harry Hill movie.”

Review: Everything's Rosie - The Greatest Show in the Garden DVD
Parents rejoice, the smash hit CBeebies show ‘Everything’s Rosie’ has finally come to DVD. The series has been charming 5 million children per episode, and on viewing this DVD it is plain to see why. The episodes offer a beautifully animated bright vibrant world, with likable characters and great voice work.
New girl in town, Rosie has a series of adventures with her colourful group of friends - embarking on journeys of discovery, fun, and everyday conundrums.
Rosie lives with her friend Raggles in the playhouse of every child's dreams. The Playhouse stands high on a hill, overlooking their favourite playground where you are sure to find Rosie and her friends - Will, Holly, Big Bear and Bluebird.
I always find when it comes to shows aimed for young ones (especially on DVD), if its tolerable for the parents to sit and watch along it has done its job. I can safely say Everything's Rosie succeeds in this and each episode helps promote that it is ok to ask for help, the importance of friendship, and appreciate the diversity in a group and community of people. Each episode of the animated series takes a seemingly everyday situation that pre-schoolers might face for the first time and finds a refreshingly different way to deal with it. Children seem genuinely captivated by the episodes and react and interact with the episodes in a positive way.
Verdict:
Everything's Rosie is high quality preschool programing that will appeal to both girls and boys in addition to keeping them enchanted and entertained with tales that focus on friendship and fun.
The DVD contains 13 episodes and runs for over 2 hours and is available on DVD now.
For one lucky reader we have a DVD to giveaway, if you would like to be entered in the draw simply answer this question below:
