Neil Gaiman To Write For Who

Not strictly film news, but it seems that Steven Moffat has took no time in taking over the reigns from Russell T. Davies. There is whispers floating around the net that the brilliant Neil Gaiman has been aproached to write episodes for the 2010 series. This would be a brilliant acqusition for the new team in charge of the series and I believe Neil Gaiman is already a massive fan of the doctor.

As much as I LOVE and ADORE Neil's work, I'm not sure if this is a brilliant idea.
His Babylon 5 episode wasn't that much of a thrill - great Gaiman idea, but didn't fit too well in the universe.

Anyway I won't be too excited until he confirms this on his journal.

I think it could work quite well. Doctor Who has always had a touch of light horror, particularly with the new series. In Coraline Neil Gaiman wrote a very effective horror story for children that freaks adults out, too. I can't see him writing for the Daleks, Cybermen or Sontarans, but, unlike Babylon 5, Doctor Who has lots of dark corners where all sorts of things can and do exist.

Thanks for posts guys and another thing worth noting, with writing for Doctor Who a writer of his prestige and class he will be given free reign and beauty of Doc Who, episodes can be basically about anything. If he accepts the offer I can see him fitting into the slot that Moffat previously had of writing a series highlight episode/s every season.
